VIN locations remain essentially the same on all vehicles. Some  are:    bottom of the windshield, driver's side  tag on the engine block  stamped in the head  tag o n the valve cover  tag on the carburetor  tag on the transmission  inner latch area of the driver side door  tag on the rear differential  tag on the frame  stamped into the body behind the rear tag/plates  tag on the firewall    Check these places to begin.

You might be surprised to find  differnt numbers, but it isn't unlikely with an older vehicle, and  the VIN on the registration is what matters.
